Yoga
The word yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning yoke or union. Ultimately, the goal of yoga is to achieve balance and harmony between the body and mind.
Hatha Yoga concentrates on three areas: pranayama (breathing), asanas (poses), and dyana (meditation). This particular system of yoga, Hatha, is the most popular one, and it is from which several other styles of yoga have originated from including Power Yoga, Bikram Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, and Kundalini Yoga.
3Cosas teaches various levels and styles of yoga. Classes and individualized sessions can be tailored to specific health and athletic needs.
Besides improving muscle tone, flexibility, and range of motion in your muscles and joints, Yoga can help improve your mental clarity and focus by letting go of distractions. Breathing techniques can be used to help relax and decrease heart rate as well. This in turn can lead to improved athletic performance.
Group Indoor Cycling
Group Indoor Cycling is a fun yet challenging aerobic exercise for individuals of all fitness levels. What sets these classes apart from the usual boredom of stationary cycling is the visual imagery provided by Cecilia. Participants are led on a “virtual” outdoor road race complete with hills, valleys, straight-aways and finish lines.
The benefits of cycling classes are that despite the group setting, you can ride at your own pace; the amount of calories you can burn depends upon your effort but you can burn up to 400-500 calories in a 40 minute class; limited weight bearing so there is little impact on joints.
Senior Aerobics
Senior Aerobics is a fun way to strengthen muscles, lose excess weight, maintain current body figure, and keep the heart healthy. Through low-impact exercises and flexibility training, just 30-45 minutes every few days can be extremely beneficial for seniors. The best part about senior aerobics is its fun, unique approach to better health and stronger bodies. It is also a great opportunity to meet friends and work together to become healthier together.
Cecilia teaches at various locations around the Austin area. Contact 3Cosas for information on attending group classes.
